What you actually get

Four things every client gets, every year

Not promises — the things that are actually handed to you.

  1. 1

A fee, in writing, before we start

You get the number before we touch your file — including anything extra, like a rental statement. A basic personal return is $75. Nothing is added later without you agreeing to it first.

  2. 2

Every credit checked — not just the ones you mention

We go through the full list against your actual situation, and ask the questions software never asks. That is where money is usually sitting.

  3. 3

Your return explained before it is filed

We sit with you and go through what you owe or get back, and why. In Tamil or English. Nothing is sent to the CRA until it makes sense to you.

  4. 4

    Someone to call in July

A CRA letter months after filing is not a new bill. Questions about your file are part of the relationship, all year, at no extra charge.

No mystery pricing

This is the published price list, applied to your situation. The same number you will get in writing.

The actual work

Every one of these is checked against your file

This is the list we work through. Most people are entitled to at least one thing on it that they did not know about. Scroll it — if something applies to you, bring it up at the free consultation.

If you are filing a personal return

  • RRSP contributions, and whether this is the right year to claim them
  • Medical expenses — yours, your spouse's and your dependants'
  • Canada caregiver credit, if you look after a parent or relative
  • Disability tax credit, including transfers from a dependant
  • Tuition, education transfers and student loan interest
  • Childcare expenses and the Canada child benefit position
  • Charitable and political donations, including carried-forward ones
  • Employment expenses and home office, where a T2200 supports it
  • Moving expenses, first-time home buyer and home accessibility amounts
  • Spousal transfers, pension splitting and the age amount
  • Newcomer first-year rules and foreign income reporting
  • Prior-year adjustments — we can go back up to ten years

If you have rental or self-employment income

  • Mortgage interest, property tax, insurance and utilities
  • Repairs and maintenance, and what counts as a capital cost instead
  • Capital cost allowance, and whether claiming it is actually in your interest
  • Vehicle costs, with the log the CRA expects to see
  • Home workspace, phone and internet at the right proportion
  • Whether it is time to incorporate, and what that would actually save

If you run a business

  • T2 corporate return and year-end financial statements
  • Bookkeeping and reconciliation, monthly or at year-end
  • GST/HST filing, input tax credits and rebates
  • Payroll, T4s, T5s and records of employment
  • Salary and dividend mix that suits your family, not a template
  • Shareholder loans, before they become a problem
  • SR&ED claims where the work qualifies
  • CRA reviews, audits and disputes, answered on your behalf

Why not just use software?

Software fills in boxes. A person asks questions.

Tax software does exactly what you tell it. It cannot know what you did not think to mention.

Common questions

Before you call

Call us: 416-438-9799

Do you speak Tamil or Sinhala?

Yes — most of our clients are served in Tamil, and we also serve clients in Sinhala. You can do everything, from the first call to the final review, in English, Tamil or Sinhala.

How much does a personal tax return cost?

Basic personal returns start at $75 per person. Extras like rental income are priced up front (rental adds $60) — see the pricing page for the full list. You'll always know the fee before we start.

What should I bring?

Your slips (T4, T5, T4A…), last year's Notice of Assessment, receipts for deductions (RRSP, medical, donations, childcare), and rental or business records if they apply. Not sure? Call us — we'll tell you exactly what your situation needs.

Can you fix past years or handle CRA letters?

Yes. We file adjustments for previous years, catch up unfiled returns, and respond to CRA reviews, audits, and disputes on your behalf.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome, but during tax season an appointment saves you waiting. Book online in one minute, or call and we'll set a time.
