Why not just do it yourself?

Software fills in boxes. An accountant finds money.

Tax software does what you tell it. It doesn't know what you didn't think to tell it — the credits you qualify for, the timing that changes the answer, the expense you didn't know was claimable. That's the job of a person who asks the right questions.

Illustrative examples of common situations — not client records. Your numbers will be your own; bring them to a free consultation and we'll tell you honestly what we see.

Illustrative example

A caregiver's tax return

Filed her own taxes for years while caring for her mother at home.

What we found: The caregiver credit and disability tax credit she never knew applied — claimed back for prior years too.

Saved$2,100
Illustrative example

A landlord who drives for a living

Drove for a living and rented out his basement — reported the income, missed the expenses.

What we found: Vehicle costs, home-office share, mortgage interest and repairs — properly documented and claimed.

Saved$1,850
Illustrative example

A contractor ready to incorporate

Ran a growing contracting business as a sole proprietor because that's how he started.

What we found: Incorporation at the right moment, plus the right salary-and-dividend mix for his family's situation.

Saved$6,400

How it works

Three steps, start to filed

  1. 1

    Bring or upload your documents

Drop by the office at Middlefield & McNicoll, or send everything through our secure client portal.

  2. 2

We prepare and review with you

Your return is prepared by our team and walked through with you — what you owe or get back, and why — before anything is filed.

  3. 3

    Filed, with year-round support

We file with the CRA and keep your records organized. CRA letter in July? Call us — that's included in the relationship.

Common questions

Before you call

Call us: 416-438-9799

Do you speak Tamil?

Yes — most of our clients are served in Tamil. You can do everything, from the first call to the final review, in Tamil or English.

How much does a personal tax return cost?

Basic personal returns start at $75 per person. Extras like rental income are priced up front (rental adds $60) — see the pricing page for the full list. You'll always know the fee before we start.

What should I bring?

Your slips (T4, T5, T4A…), last year's Notice of Assessment, receipts for deductions (RRSP, medical, donations, childcare), and rental or business records if they apply. Not sure? Call us — we'll tell you exactly what your situation needs.

Can you fix past years or handle CRA letters?

Yes. We file adjustments for previous years, catch up unfiled returns, and respond to CRA reviews, audits, and disputes on your behalf.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome, but during tax season an appointment saves you waiting. Book online in one minute, or call and we'll set a time.
